Posted on by admin

As much as it would really be great to have just one solution to all our carpet cleaning problems, the fact of the matter is different liquids will respond to different methods of cleaning. The following are some of the not so common spills and the strategies you need to remove them.

• Vomit: This will come in very handy this coming holiday season. Vomit has to be treated fairly quickly. You have to blot and not rub as much as you can then immediately dilute with a water and baking soda solution. Then spray on a mixture of 1 portion ammonia and 10 portions of water. Rinse the solution out of the rug with water then air dry. Finally vacuum the rug.

• Blood: Blot out as much of the liquid as possible. Afterwards combine one teaspoon of a gentle detergent, one quart water and one tsp white vinegar. Spray the solution onto the area then let it air dry. Next use dry-cleaning fluid on the spot. Lastly vacuum the carpet when it dries.

• Mud: Let the mud dry well. Afterwards scrape or brush off as much as you can from the carpet. Combine 1 quart water, 1 tsp gentle detergent and a tsp white vinegar. Apply the mixture on the area. Let it dry. If there is still a stain use dry-cleaning fluid then blot.

• Acid stains: Acid spills like drain cleaner or vinegar needs quick attention. Dilute it immediately with club soda. Then use a 1 part ammonia and 10 parts water mixture. Then rinse with cool water, let it dry then vacuum.
